<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium-transition metal-based compound powder which makes it possible to provide a lithium secondary battery which has a high initial efficiency and a good rate characteristic when used as a lithium secondary battery positive electrode material. <P>SOLUTION: The lithium-transition metal-based compound powder for lithium secondary battery positive electrode material comprises an oxide expressed by the general formula (1). The powder has Li holes and oxygen holes in a crystal structure, and a root mean square (RMS) of surface roughnesses of primary particles of the powder is 1.5 nm or less, which conforms to JIS B 0601:2001. xLi<SB POS="POST">2</SB>MO<SB POS="POST">3</SB>(1-x)LiNO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>(1), where x meets 0<x<1, M is at least one metal element having a mean oxidation number of 4<SP POS="POST">+</SP>, and N is at least one metal element having a mean oxidation number of 3<SP POS="POST">+</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
