<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust apparatus of a variable compression ratio internal combustion engine, which is capable of reducing load generated in a joint by the displacement of an upper part of a cylinder block. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust apparatus 7 includes a spherical surface joint 13 for connecting an exhaust manifold 10 connected to a cylinder head 3 with a first exhaust pipe 11, and a flexible joint 14 for connecting the first exhaust pipe 11 with the second exhaust pipe 12.
