MODIFICATION OF EQUIVALENT RESOURCE QUANTITY DURING ADMISSION CONTROL

To improve connection admission control for a connection to be set up in a resource of a network part, for example in a base station controller (RNC), a module (QP) quantifies an evaluator (E) with each request to set up a connection according to the aptness of an equivalent resource quantity (QREc), such as bit rate, associated with the type of the connection during a cycle, and a module (RE) automatically re-evaluates equivalent resource quantities associated with the types of connections in dependency on the evaluator at the end of the cycle. The evaluator is decremented according to the type of the refused connection when the resource is in the normal state and incremented according to the type of the admitted connection when the resource is in a congested state. The re-evaluation does not depend on any actual measurement of the quantities.
