Image generation method for MRI to measure deformation of moving object, e.g. heart

The method involves using a pulse sequence with a velocity-coded gradient for providing velocity image data for the organ examined using the magnetic resonance imaging system. A velocity image is then reconstructed from the velocity image data. The MRI system data are used to calculate the stable movement of the organ. A deformation image is generated for the examined organ by subtracting the stable body movement from the velocity image.
