PURPOSE: A control device for external devices of a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to consecutively output a broadcasting program being output in a broadcasting mode of the portable terminal in an external device. CONSTITUTION: A display part(160) displays selection menus in a broadcasting mode to be output in an external device. If an external device output for a currently broadcasted program is selected in the broadcasting mode, a control part(110) performs a control operation to make the external device output the same program currently being broadcasted in a corresponding channel. When an external device on or a channel shift is selected, the control part switches a current mode to a remote control mode. The control part automatically turns on the external device.
