an imaging unit including a plurality of pixels each including a first photoelectric conversion unit, a second photoelectric conversion unit, and a microlens collecting light to the first photoelectric conversion unit and the second photoelectric conversion unit, and a first mixing unit configured to mix output signals from the first photoelectric conversion units of the plurality of pixels to generate a first signal, the imaging unit being configured to output the first signal and a second signal based on the output signal from the first photoelectric conversion unit and an output signal from the second photoelectric conversion unit from each of the plurality of pixels; an image processing unit configured to generate an image based on the second signal; and a focus detection processing unit configured to perform focus detection based on the first signal and the second signal.
