PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buffer component which is easily mounted to an external storage device, is less likely to be shifted from the original mounted position, and can exhibit excellent shock absorption capability and vibration attenuation capability regardless even when it has a thin thickness. SOLUTION: A shape holding core component 7 is provided in a soft portion 6. Therefore, even if the soft portion 6 is soft and is easily deformed, the shape holding core component 7 holds the shape of the soft portion 6. Accordingly, the soft portion 6 can be easily handled. Moreover, when the soft portion 6 is mounted to a hard disk apparatus 2, the soft portion 6 can be reliably attached to a correct position while the shape of the soft portion 6 is maintained.
