PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive which prevents demagnetization of a magnet for a motor.SOLUTION: A motor drive 100 includes an inverter 15 connecting an upper stage switching element and a lower stage switching element in series in the forward direction, and using the connection as the output terminal to a motor 8, a capacitor connected with the emitter of the upper stage switching element, current detection means 208 for detecting a current flowing through the inverter, a motor protection threshold lower than the value of a demagnetization start current of the permanent magnet of the motor 8, and current limit means 105 for limiting a current flowing through the motor 8 when a current calculated by current calculation means exceeds the motor protection threshold during initial charge of the capacitor. |
