A vehicle tire inflation system having a valve assembly in fluid communication with a reservoir via a conduit. The valve assembly includes a mounting portion (50) coupled with a wheel rim interior surface. The wheel rim includes an aperture through its exterior surface to its interior surface. The mounting portion (50) includes an aperture in fluid communication with the wheel rim aperture. The valve assembly also includes a cap portion (64) inlet in fluid communication with the conduit. The cap portion (64) includes a perforation (144) in fluid communication with the inlet and with a cap portion chamber. The chamber at least partially surrounds a valve member (68). A base portion (62) is coupled with the cap portion (64), and at least partially surrounds the valve member. The base portion comprises an outlet in fluid communication with the mounting portion aperture, and in selective fluid communication with the cap portion inlet via the valve member. The valve assembly may be attached to the wheel rim with multiple fasteners for extra security.
