PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device capable of automatically performing accurate cleaning without being influenced by the shape change or the like of a cleaned object in the case of cleaning while advancing a cleaning action member along the cleaned object. SOLUTION: This cleaning device is provided with an actuator 43 for driving the cleaning action member 4 advancing along the cleaned object S, in a direction to approach the cleaned object S and in a direction to go away from the cleaned object S; approach clearance detecting mechanisms 52-53, 54-55 for detecting whether the approach clearance of the cleaning action member 4 to the cleaned object S is within a set range L; and a control mechanism 51 for automatically controlling the operation of the actuator 43 to maintain the approach clearance within the set range L based on the operation of the approach clearance detecting mechanisms 52-53, 54-55.
