PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition which is used as a detergent for vegetables, fruits, dishes and cooking utensils, composed mainly of sodium bicarbonate, constituted only of safe food-based materials, does not contain surfactants, petrochemical substances such as bleachers and additives and harmful substances, of a self-dissolving type and dissolves quickly in water irrespective of the quality and temperature of the water. SOLUTION: The detergent composition contains an alkaline composition containing sodium bicarbonate as the main component and a carbonate (Na, K, NH<SB>4</SB>) as the second component, a non-hydroxycarboxylic acid (succinic acid, maleic acid, fumaric acid, adipic acid and glutaric acid) as the main component and a hydroxycarboxylic acid being the second acidic substance (citric acid, malic acid and tartaric acid) as an auxiliary component, sulfamic acid, acidic sodium sulfate and pyrrolidone carboxylic acid. The pH of the 1% aqueous solution of the composition is adjusted to be around 6-10.5. The composition also contains 1.5-15 wt.% of an L-ascorbate (Na, K and NH<SB>4</SB>).
