PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for detecting aligned position of a membrane electrode assembly is provided to quickly detect the aligned state of a membrane electrode assembly and gas diffusion layer, thereby preventing the quality loss of a fuel cell. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus and method for detecting aligned position of a membrane electrode assembly comprises a detector(102) mounting a laminate(S) on a pair of gas diffusion layers(30,30') around an electrode assembly; and an alignment detector(110) detecting location information about the pair of gas diffusion layers, comparing the detect location information with the standard parameter, and determining the existence of errors, and sensing weather the pair of gas diffusion layers is arranged at the correct position of the membrane electrode assembly.
