PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and safe rice cooker eliminating the concern to touch foods even though oil leakage occurs by employing an oil damper. SOLUTION: The rice cooker has a body 1 whose upper face is opened, a pot 2 housed in the body 1, a lid 3 covering the upper face opening portion of the body 1, a hinge shaft 4 keeping the lid 3 openably and closably pivoted by the body 1, a biasing means 5 biasing the lid 3 toward in the opening direction, and the oil damper 6 assembled to a hinge shaft 4 and braking the opening of the lid 3, the lowermost portion of the hinge shaft 4 is arranged in a position lower than the flange portion 2a above the pot 2. Thereby, the downsizing of the product can be intended by employing the oil damper 6 and the concern for the oil to touch the foods can be eliminated by arranging the lowermost portion of the hinge shaft 4 in the position lower than the flange portion 2a above the pot 2 even though the oil leakage occurs from the oil damper 6, and consequently the safe rice cooker can be provided.
