A medical instrument suitable for intravascular application, and particularly an open catheter needle with slotted protection sleeve for preventing a needle puncture wound and blood contamination in clinical medicine. A needle base (3.1) is connected to an operation tab or an operation lug (3.1.2.1) by a guiding and connecting rib (3.1.3). A needle tube protection sleeve (1) is an elongated hollow housing. A side wall or two corresponding side walls have a sliding slot (1.1.1) of a certain length. The needle tube protection sleeve is sleeved into the needle base from the back end of the catheter needle and slides forward until a back engagement device between the two engages and connects, and at this point, the needle protection sleeve completely covers the needle tip. The needle tube protection sleeve is pulled backward to disengage from the back engagement device until a projecting fastener achieves a front engagement with the needle base, preventing the needle protection sleeve from moving backward. After puncture, a needle tube assembly moves relative to the needle tube protection sleeve and moves backward into the needle tube protection sleeve until the back engagement device engages again, and at this point, the needle tube protection sleeve completely covers the needle tip again. An advantage of the present invention is that it provides an effective timely protection for the needle tube and the needle tip and prevents accidental injury and blood contamination, and thus the present invention has great practical use and is therefore easy to market. |
