Trenching apparatus

Ground trench forming apparatus (15) is provided and comprises a rutting wheel (25) axially mounted on a support (20) so as to be freely rotatable about an axle (23). In use the periphery of the wheel (25) can be pressed into the ground and caused to rotate about the axle (23) as it rolls across the ground whereby to part the ground to form a trench. The apparatus can be formed as an attachment for an excavator dipper arm (10) and has particular advantages for use in forming drainage channels for golf courses.
