Drinking straws for aerating fluids are described. The drinking straws includes at least one tube wall defining a flow space configured to allow fluid to flow through the drinking straw and defining one or more openings. The drinking straws also include features to control the amount of air flow into the flow space through the openings when fluid is flowing through the flow space so as to aerate the fluid. The features may selectively occlude the openings and/or may control the size of an air gap limiting the amount of air flow to the opening.
