PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a surface-mounted crystal oscillator, which can improve productivity with proper workability, and furthermore can maintain miniaturization; and to provide a container body for the crystal oscillator. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the surface-mounted crystal oscillator comprises three processes. The surface-mounted crystal oscillator includes crystal holding terminals 8a and 8b at a container body 1 for holding a crystal piece. The crystal holding terminals 8a and 8b comprise a first holding terminal and a second holding terminal separated beforehand. At a first process, the first holding terminal is electrically connected to crystal inspection terminals 6a and 6b, the second holding terminal is electrically connected to crystal terminals 7x and 7y at an IC chip, and an extended perimeter portion of a drawing electrode at the crystal piece is fixed to the first holding terminal by a first conductive adhesive. After the first process, the crystal piece is excited strongly by the crystal inspection terminal 6a and 6b at a second process. After the second process, a second conductive adhesive is pasted at the top face of the crystal piece to raise adhesion strength and the first holding terminal is electrically connected to the second holding terminal at a third process.
