A penile prosthesis implantation device includes a barrel having a bore, and an obturator that is received within the bore and is configured to slide along a longitudinal axis of the bore relative to the barrel. A distal end of the obturator includes a needle clamp and one or more bore engaging members. The needle clamp is configured to hold a thread attachment end of a needle. Each bore engaging member includes a surface that engages an interior wall of the bore. A gap extends between a central portion of the obturator and the one or more bore engaging members.

1. A penile prosthesis implantation device comprising:
a barrel having a bore; and
an obturator received within the bore and configured to slide along a longitudinal axis of the bore relative to the barrel, the obturator comprising:
a needle clamp including one or more pinching members extending from a distal end of the obturator along the longitudinal axis, wherein the one or more pinching members include pinching surfaces that are configured to hold a thread attachment end of a needle; andone or more bore engaging members at the distal end of the obturator, the one or more bore engaging member having a surface that engages an interior wall of the bore; anda gap extending between a central portion of the obturator and the one or more bore engaging members;wherein the one or more bore engaging members deflect toward the central portion and the longitudinal axis in response to contact with the interior wall of the bore independently from the one or more pinching members and the pinching surfaces.
