PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a switching regulator which can be controlled arbitrarily to increase the switching frequency regardless of variation in output load. SOLUTION: The switching regulator comprises an off period setting circuit 1 for controlling the off period of an MOSFET Q1 by elevating the potential at a predetermined part with some time constant by using the drain voltage of the MOSFET Q1, and turning the MOSFET Q1 on from off state, before being turned on by ringing, at such a timing as the predetermined part has a predetermined potential depending on the above-mentioned time constant.
