PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate an external connection apparatus, by utilizing an existing electronic program guide screen without using any special screen for operation. SOLUTION: The video apparatus control device is provided with a broadcast information acquisition means for acquiring broadcast information related to a receivable broadcast; a broadcast information display signal generation means which generates a broadcast information display signal for displaying items related to the broadcast information acquired by the broadcast information acquisition means; a communication means for communicating with a connected external apparatus; and an external apparatus function acquisition means for acquiring functions of the connected external apparatus via the communication means. The broadcast information display signal generation means generates a broadcast information display signal, containing items corresponding to the functions of the external apparatus together with the items related to the broadcast information.
