<p>The present invention relates to a method for identifying a glycemic stabilizing compound, by: a) contacting a candidate compound with a 5-HT6 receptor, b) determining whether 5-HT6 receptor functionality is increased, and c) determining whether a glycemic marker is directly modulated, where an increase in 5-HT6 receptor functionality and direct modulation of a glycemic marker identifies the candidate compound as the glycemic stabilizing compound. In addition, the invention relates to a method for identifying a glycemic stabilizing compound, by: a) contacting a single dose of a candidate compound with a 5-HT6 receptor, b) determining whether 5-HT6 receptor functionality is increased, and c) determining whether a glycemic marker is directly modulated, where an increase in 5-HT6 receptor functionality and direct modulation of a glycemic marker identifies the candidate compound as the glycemic stabilizing compound. Further, the invention relates to a method for identifying a glycemic stabilizing compound, by: a) contacting a candidate compound with a 5-HT6 receptor in an isolated cell, b) determining whether 5-HT6 receptor functionality is increased, and c) determining whether a glycemic marker is directly modulated, where an increase in 5-HT6 receptor functionality and direct modulation of a glycemic marker identifies the candidate compound as the glycemic stabilizing compound.</p> |
