The modular lighting procedure is effected by a headlight containing a number of separate light sources, such as LEDs, each producing a partial beam emitted in a predetermined direction. The partial beams overlap to create the full headlight beam, and one or more of the light sources can be modulated to control the light flow in its partial beam. When the headlight is on a detection system such as a thermal, infra-red or video camera picks out critical zones (V1, V2, P) in the illuminated scene ahead, notably people's heads, vehicles travelling in the same or opposite direction, and road signs, and an electronic circuit adjusts the partial beams accordingly. |
