<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device constituted simply. <P>SOLUTION: In an optical disk OD, luminous flux according to recorded information is emitted in a direction orthogonal to the axis of the optical disk. Therefore, by providing a photodetector PD radially outside the optical disk OD, the luminous flux can be photodetected.
