CARTRIDGE ENGAGING ASSEMBLY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to decrease the number of parts for the entire part of a system, to simplify assembly and to reduce the cost by arranging a rack and pinion drive assembly so as to actuate the assembly cooperatively with a small assembly in such a manner that the small assembly can move in a direction where it approaches the cartridge access end of a frame and a direction where the assembly parts therefrom. SOLUTION: The cartridge engaging assembly 10 includes the frame assembly 38 to delineate a cavity 44 to accept a data cartridge. The small assembly 40 is mounted at the frame assembly 38 in such a manner that it slides and moves in the arrow 54 direction toward the cartridge access end 46 or in the arrow 55 direction parting therefrom. The rack and pinion drive assembly 42 is used in order to move the assembly 40. The rack and pinion drive assembly 42 comprises a gear rack 48 mounted at the frame assembly 38 and a pinion gear 50 mounted on the assembly 40.
