The inductive proximity switch (1) has a measuring coil (11) arranged in the area of eddy currents generated in the body (2) by the transmission coil (5), which is measured by the eddy currents of the body. The transmission coil is decoupled by the current source (6). A voltage limiting switch (12) is provided parallel to the switch (7), which is reduced by the magnetic field of the transmission coil. The measuring coil is connected electrically with the evaluation unit (8).
