The invention relates to a converter of alternate linear movement to rotating movement, comprising: a) a "thrust part" subjected to an alternate linear movement, and comprising two parallel rack rails facing each other; b) two pinions engaged with each other, each engaging with a separate rack rail, generating the rotating movement from each one; and c) a fixed "support-guide" supporting the axles of the pinions and guiding the "thrust part" in such a way that the geometric centre thereof describes a path in the form of a "double loop" (8) with two straight crossed sections (there and back) joined by two semi-circumferential sections (ends) in which each rack rail changes pinion. To this end, the "thrust part " has a longitudinal bar comprising transversal notches, guided on opposing faces by two projections of the "support-guide". This enables a high mechanical yield by the application of the forces to the pinions in an essentially tangential direction.
