PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly versatile magnetostrictive member which is manufactured at lower cost than by a single crystal manufacturing method, and has high performance and high reliability to be used as a power source in vibration power generation for taking out electrical energy from various vibrations.SOLUTION: A magnetostrictive member is formed by pulling out a molten Fe-Ga alloy at a constant speed from inside a furnace, solidifying the same in one direction, cutting out the solidified alloy in a strip shape, separating the strip-shaped material into individual single crystals B at a crystal grain boundary, and from the single crystal B of the Fe-Ga alloy, cutting out the member by discharge-machining while aligning a <100> orientation of the alloy crystal in a direction toward which magnetostriction of a magnetostrictive element is required. The Fe-Ga alloy contains Ga by a ratio of 19.0-23.0% in mass%, and the remaining part thereof comprises Fe and unavoidable impurities. Further, an inclination between the required direction of magnetostriction of the magnetostrictive element and the <100> orientation of the Fe-Ga alloy crystal is 10.0° or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
