POROUS SILICA FOAM AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous silica foam having a pore structure consisting of macropores and micropores constituting a cell structure or a pore structure having mesopores besides macropores and micropores constituting a cell structure and to provide a method for easily producing the porous silica foam. SOLUTION: An aqueous stock solution containing a silica precursor, a surfactant and a catalyst is prepared and foamed, the silica precursor is polymerized in the foamed stock solution and fixed while retaining the foam structure and the resulting foam-like hydrous silica is dried to obtain the objective porous silica foam.
