PURPOSE: A method for selecting a speech mode in a car audio system having a hands-free function is provided to convert into a hands-free function mode by using a mode conversion key while an audio sound source is outputted from a car audio system, and to operate in a speech mode by selecting a predetermined key, thereby simplifying a key operation method. CONSTITUTION: While performing an audio functional mode of an audio module unit by receiving a key operational signal(S10), a system decides whether a mode conversion key is inputted(S20). If so, the system carries out a hands-free functional mode(S30). The system decides whether a number key is inputted(S40). If so, the system decides whether a predetermined key is inputted among random operational keys except the mode conversion key and the number key(S60). If so, the system calls other party having a random telephone number inputted from the number key(S70).
