SOLUTION: This optical fiber cable 1 contains one or more sheets of optical fiber tape cores 9 in the U-grooves 7 of the slot core 3 having one or more U-grooves 7. Also, a water absorption material 25 is contained in a space 29 of arcuate shape in cross section formed by the lowermost layer optical fiber tape core 9 contained in the U-groove 7 and the bottom of the U-groove 7.
