PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for cutting a sheet stack capable of solving a problem relating to abrasion of a cutting blade and capable of extending a cutting life while maintaining a time required for cutting within a predetermined time.SOLUTION: An apparatus for cutting a sheet stack comprising a plurality of sheets is provided. The apparatus includes a cutting blade having a plate form and having a cutting edge at one side extending along a cutting width direction. The cutting blade has at the one side: a plurality of projecting blade portions having ridge lines forming edge lines capable of thrusting and sawing cutting and projecting in a cutting direction; and a straight bottom portion formed between adjacent projecting blade portions. Cutting of the sheet stack is performed by applying a load to the cutting blade in the cutting direction, and by reciprocating the cutting blade along the cutting width direction. Preferably, the straight line length of the straight bottom is formed 1 mm or longer and the apparatus may have the ridge lines forming the edge lines for cutting along the cutting width direction of the sheet stack.
