摘要 The invention relates to a method and installation for monitoring and managing a lead battery. The inventive method consists in periodically measuring the time t that has passed since monitoring commenced and the voltage U at the terminals of the battery. According to the invention, if U is less than a threshold A which is representative of a charge state, U is compared to a threshold D which is representative of a battery discharge state. If U is greater than D for a period of time longer than limit t0, the battery is declared to be at rest and the monitoring continues, but if t0 is not reached, the monitoring continues without rest state being declared. Moreover, if U is less than D, discharge state is declared. If discharge state is being declared for the first time, a discharge period is started and the duration td thereof is measured. However, if discharge state is not being declared for the first time, the time that has passed since the preceding U measurement was taken is added to td. Furthermore, if U is greater than A, the elapsed time is compared to a value t2 and the recording of the discharge time td is started. In the latter case, if t2 has not yet elapsed or if td is less than t4, the monitoring continues, or, if t2 has elapsed and if td is greater than t4, a charge detection operation is started. Finally, when charging has finished, a new measuring cycle is started.
