PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a CDV antigen in a specimen simply and rapidly by applying an antibody corresponding to a dog distemper virus to a carrier or a reaction film to form a solid phase and using an anti-distemper virus antibody labelled with a color particle or enzyme. SOLUTION: The antibody corresponding to glycoprotein of the canine distemper virus is prepared to be applied to the central part of the reaction film to set a decision part. A sample port is placed on the lower end of the reaction film and filter paper containing the antibody labelled with the color particle or enzyme is placed between the sample port and the decision part. Further, filter paper having high water absorbability is arranged to the other end of the reaction film. This detection method is not inferior in sensitivity and specificity as compared with a conventional method and operation is simple and completed for about 20 min. Accordingly, this detection method enables decision within consultation hours, requires no special appliance, enables visual decision and is extremely useful for performing an early diagnosis of CDV and preventing the spread of infection.
