PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device having a double-sided reading function with a configuration capable of reducing a read time while suppressing the manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The image reading device includes a first original reading section for reading image information from the first side of an original, a second original reading section for reading image information from the second side of the original, a storage section for storing the image information read from the original, and a code conversion section for converting the image information stored in the storage section into code. The image information read by the first original reading section and the image information read by the second original reading section are input to the same storage section and converted into code by the code conversion section.
