PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption and to reduce area occupied by a head IC chip, in a heater drive circuit driving a heating element controlling projection quality of a magnetic head. SOLUTION: A heater drive circuit (26) driving a heating element (3-4) of the magnetic head is constituted of power error calculating circuits (42, 44, 46, 48) a PWM circuit (50), and a switch (SW0), and it is housed in a head IC (20). Since a heater can be heat-controlled by low power consumption and the heater drive circuit is occupied by a circuit of a logic system, size of a transistor becomes smaller and circuit scale can be reduced.
