PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power generation system capable of promoting cooling of a fuel cell which uses gasified gas as fuel, and a method of cooling a fuel cell.SOLUTION: A combined power generation system 1 is a power generation system 1 equipped with an SOFC 4 which uses gas containing carbon monoxide, which is supplied from a gasification furnace 14, as fuel. The system is equipped with: a CO shift reactor 17 which performs heat exchange with the fuel supplied from the gasification furnace 14 to generate carbon dioxide and hydrogen at least from a part of carbon monoxide and water vapor contained in the fuel, and reduce the temperature of the fuel to a level lower than the operating temperature of the SOFC 4; and a fuel cell 4 having a fuel electrode 6 to which the fuel having passed through the CO shift reactor 17 is introduced. |
