An arrangement for the assembly of work-pieces (1,2), especially units for holding plastic tubes during welding, comprises a fixed carrier section (3) for a primary holding element (4) and a movable carrier for a secondary holding element. An arrangement for the assembly of work-pieces (1,2), especially units for holding plastic tubes during welding, comprises a fixed carrier section (3) for a primary holding element (4) and a movable carrier for a secondary holding element. The secondary carrier section can be moved relative to the primary section using a spindle in a linear guide unit (7). An adapter can be connected to a portable electric motor drive and the holding elements can be releasably connected to the carrier sections. The holding elements can be connected to the carriers and the electric motor drive is located in a housing along with a coupling. The adapter is fixed to the carrier section and is surrounded by a housing.
