Production of an oxidic geometric molded body comprises mechanically compressing a powdered material inserted into a filling chamber of a die and consisting of a metal compound or metal oxide to form a geometric precursor molded body. The die material in contact with the die hole is a hard metal consisting of at least 80 wt.% tungsten carbide and at least 5 wt.% nickel as binder. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Oxidic geometric molded body produced by the above process; (2) Method for the heterogeneously catalyzed partial gas phase oxidation of an organic compound on a fixed catalyst bed made from the above oxidic geometric molded body; and (3) Tubular bundle reactor with reaction tubes containing oxidic geometric molded bodies.
