The invention relates to optical methods of analyzing matter and can be used to analyze the insoluble part of organic matter in sedimentary rocks when determining the level of maturity of the organic matter in such rocks. The present method of determining the maturity of sapropelic organic matter in oil and gas source rocks on the basis of optical spectroscopic measurements consists in sampling sedimentary rocks and isolating insoluble organic matter therefrom. Next, the intensity of IR spectral bands at 2930, 2850, 1710 and 630 cm-1 of the infrared spectrum of the insoluble organic matter is measured. Then, the values obtained are used to calculate control parameters, on the basis of which the catagenesis substage and corresponding level of sapropelic organic matter maturity are determined. The technical result is an increase in the reliability and degree of detail provided when determining the maturity of organic matter. |
