PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce overlapping of exposure spots formed by light sources adjacent to each other during elimination of electricity to reduce power consumption.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: solid scanning heads 41 that each expose and eliminate electricity from a surface of each of photoreceptor drums having a surface moving in a sub scanning direction with a plurality of light emitting devices 41 arranged along a main scanning direction of each of the photoreceptor drums 9; and an image writing control part 38 that divides the plurality of light emitting devices into a plurality of light emitting device groups and controls light emission of the light emitting devices in a time-division manner for each of the light emitting device groups. The image writing control part 38 controls a timing of starting light emission of light emitting devices adjacent to each other and a period of time of light emission of the light emitting devices so as to reduce the overlapping area of exposure spots formed by the light emitting devices on the surface of each of the photoreceptor drums during elimination of electricity from the surface of the photoreceptor drums.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
