PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of realizing highly accurate density correction in a sub-scanning direction.SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus which includes: a light source; a drum which is a photoreceptor; an optical scanning apparatus in which a light beam emitted from the light source is deflected and scanned in a main scanning direction by deflecting and scanning means and the deflected and scanned light beam is collected on the drum, which is a surface to be scanned, by scanning and imaging means to form a latent image on the drum surface; and an endless belt which is disposed in contact with the drum and on which an image corresponding to the latent image is formed. The image forming apparatus comprises: pattern forming means for forming a pattern for detecting density variation having a plurality of generation cycles on the endless belt in the conveyance direction of the endless belt; a density sensor for detecting the pattern for detecting density variation to output a density signal including information on the density variation in the conveyance direction of the endless belt; and a cycle detection sensor for detecting a plurality of cycles included in the density variation. |
