Provided in an embodiment of the present invention are a communication method and network element apparatus, the communication method comprising: establishing a wireless link between a second network element and an air interface provided by a user equipment (UE) function module arranged in a first network element, the second network element being an apparatus having a network access function; the first network element is in communication with the second network element via the wireless link; and through the communication method and the network element apparatus, the first network element can establish the wireless link between the second network element having the network access function and the air interface provided by the UE function module arranged in the first network element, the wireless link being a communication link directly established between the two network elements required to communicate, thus effectively reducing communication delay between the two network elements. |
