The present invention provides board inspection method and system for setting an inspection area having a three-dimensional shape and/or an arbitrary two-dimensional shape in an image of a board. According to the present invention, the board inspection method includes: a step for forming and displaying a two-dimensional image of the board by using image data obtained from the board having a subject to be inspected; a step for receiving input information including arbitrary point data or line data for setting up the inspection area at a plurality of specific positions in the two-dimensional image from a user; and a step for displaying the inspection area corresponding to the point data or the line data as the arbitrary two-dimensional inspection area corresponding to the input information.
