The synchroniser contains an evaluator for extracting a synchronisation signal (E(t)) from pre-equalised data signal. Pref. the assembly components are suitable for UMTS, and the assembly may be operated in TDD mode. The evaluator mode determines a time search window, in which the synchronisation signal is searched for determination of a synchronisation time point The search window may be selected smaller than the expansion factor (Q). Independent claims are included for method of reception of transmission signal.
