<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a plurality of image forming devices different in structure of a charging means and capable of removing transfer residual toner under a proper condition from a latent image carrier in each of the image forming devices. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a plurality of image forming devices 1 each of which is provided with a photoreceptor 3 serving as the latent image carrier, a charging device 4, a development apparatus 5, and a photoreceptor cleaning device 6 serving as a toner removing means removing transfer residual toner remaining on the surface of the photoreceptor 3 after a formed toner image is transferred to an intermediate transfer belt. An image forming device 1K for black among a plurality of the image forming devices 1 has a charging device 4 different in structure from that of another image forming device 3T for color.
