A rail vehicle and roof thereof, the roof (1) comprising: several transversely joined hollow sections. The bottom surface of the hollow section is provided with a longitudinally extending chute (2) to form an installation portion for an internally-mounted device. On the roof is provided an air conditioning installation base (3), a pantograph installation base (4), and a high voltage equipment container (5), respectively embedded in the roof, and respective top portions thereof having an arc shape matching the roof. The vehicle roof enables a current collection device and an air conditioning device to be installed thereat in a sunken manner, reducing the impact thereof on a streamlined structure of the roof, realizing a smooth design of a roof surface, reducing air resistance and aerodynamic noise, and improving an aerodynamic performance of a rail vehicle.
