PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control system for a V-type internal combustion engine in which particulate filters are provided for each bank, for suppressing the erroneous estimation of the amount of PMs accumulated on the particulate filters.SOLUTION: When a difference between front-rear differential pressures of two particulate filters is greater than a predetermined threshold value, the exhaust emission control system executes PM accumulation promoting processing for the particulate filter having the lower front-rear differential pressure. When the difference between the front-rear differential pressures after executing the PM accumulation promoting processing is smaller than that before executing the PM accumulation promoting processing, the system determines that the amount of PMs accumulated on the particulate filter having the higher front-rear differential pressure is larger than that on the other particulate filter, and when the difference between the front-rear differential pressures after executing the PM accumulation promoting processing is greater than that before executing the PM accumulation promoting processing, the system determines that the amount of PMs accumulated on the particulate filter having the lower front-rear differential pressure is larger than that on the other particulate filter.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
