PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of performing appropriate air conditioning operation in accordance with an indoor environment.SOLUTION: An air conditioner comprises: a near infrared projector which exposes a room interior to near infrared rays; near infrared receiving means 120 which has receiving sensitivity to at least a wavelength of infrared rays emitted from the near infrared projector and performs output in accordance with light intensity received from the room interior; a material detection section 134 which detects quality of a floor material in accordance with the output of the near infrared receiving means 120 acquired while the near infrared rays are emitted from the near infrared projector; and control means 130A which controls air-conditioning operation on the basis of detection of the material detection section 134.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 14
