The seat (2) has a cushion (7) with a lowering mechanism. The cushion forms lever systems (12, 29), which are in pivotable connection with the cushion and a vehicle floor (11). A backrest (5) is hinged over the cushion with an unchanged position of a rotation axis (9), after avoidance of adjustment of the cushion and after subsequent forward and backward movement of the backrest in a direction to the floor, for limiting movement of the cushion, so that a back seat of the backrest is provided as an additional loading area into an increased loading area in a seamless manner.
