An image processing apparatus is provided. The image processing apparatus samples indirect light, for example virtual point light (VPL), at a direct light view point. A measurement unit of the image processing apparatus compares a current frame with at least one previous frame, and measures a frame difference on at least one from a position or a direction of direct light. A determination unit of the image processing apparatus reuses at least one indirect light sampled in the previous frame as indirect light of the current frame when the difference is smaller than a threshold value.
